After much deliberation & googling, I've chosen to move it on over to Wordpress.

Adios to my fine neighborhood on Vox.
I wrote about this before when the Pride Campus yada yada was in the works.
If a student doesn't feel safe, shipping them off to a school where more kids like them are isn't the answer.
What could that possibly teach? Why did our country go through the painful process of integration, if that was the answer? Weren't minority students threatened? Did we not believe that was a better thing, & force them to stay?
Yes, we did. One simple truth compels us to see, or should, the right path:
The world is not segregated.
If your boss fires you because you're gay, you don't open a gay-only company.
Last I checked, there wasn't a GLBT heaven.
If you build a school where people can hide away, you teach them to run. You teach them it's something that can only be shared with others just like them. It's better to just hide your face.
Why does that seem familiar?
Come out! Come out little gay, so we can tuck you away in this federally funded, bigger, shinier closet.
So... Why don't we focus on the bully? Why are they not being addressed as the only problem? As far as I'm concerned the adults allowing it are just as culpable. They're fired, & the bullies expelled.
Let them start their own school...
Just finished this for the 2nd time.
I want to like it, but I just don't get it...
I think I was just sent a warning from my subconcious...
I dreamt I was a teenager in this sheltered Amish like community, but it was more like 'The Village'.
I was being tucked safely away...
I woke up with this sense of needing to break out, to live more.
Then again, it's payday & I have errands... Maybe it was just my subconscious' wacky way of waking me up.
Far more likely than an epiphany, right?
I mean, it was one of the first 13. That certainly gives them cred, but why are they so amazingly progressive in our battle for equality?
Is it the influence of Abraham Lincoln's pen? The very same that signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
Is it the tea tainting their water supply with calm collectiveness?
It's only about mid-list as far as population percentage... We're all over CA, but look how that played out...
But maybe a better question is: Why ISN'T everyone else?
We all grew from the same roots, yet they've retained the spirit that formed & forged this nation.
We wander around in our entitled freedoms so sure in our personal myopic aubbles that questioning isn't allowed.
Isn't that blindness what our ancestors ran to the New Country to escape?
As the great duo Jay & Silent Bob have taught us:
"It's better to have an idea, than to believe. An idea can change."
All this talk about whether or not to delve into Bush-era terror practices...
It just makes you wonder...
They did a full-on million page report on whether Bill schtooped the aide. And now? Ooh... Maybe we shouldn't delve because our president tortured people & destroyed our right to privacy?? Really?
Well, Clinton lied to Congress... Oh wait! Cheney told the CIA to hide it all together. Okay, Cheney was smarter.
And good old Bill got his knob polished a few times, & liked an eccentric humidor...
Bush & his lot waterboarded people for 8 years...
Is it just because the dreaded torture method sounds like harmless beach fun?
Okay... This is mean, & somewhat disrespectful, but...
Why is everyone still pretending those children are biologically related to Michael Jackson?
I mean, sure... One is named Blanket, & that's so a f*cked up name that only a musician would pick, but those children are white.
White!
Can someone explain it to me?
So... I haven't done any writing on Obama & the Gays, my new favorite reality show.
It was also insinuated that I had become less 'cute & philosophical', & more 'dear diary'. Which is probably true...
Anyway... The 'mos vs O.
Every time I pick up a piece of gay media it's shaking it's fists at Obama & his broken promises to us.
This is so early to be bringing the rain that it's ridiculous. The country is falling into financial ruin, & isn't that slightly more pressing? You can't have your eco-friendly, super, gayer-than-thou nuptials if all the lI shops go bankrupt.
DOMA & DADT are bad, & should be abolished, but a leader has to lead everyone. Our economy, the war... These are the issues that affect everyone, including GLBTs.
& maybe...given more time, these issues possibly, hopefully settled, then the opposition might be more inclined to listen.
Okay... That's a long shot, okay...impossibility.
I honestly believe the man is trying, & sadly, even an empty promise is more than we've gotten in a long while.
I'm gonna give the man a little time, see how pulling the soldiers out goes... See if he can pull his ridonkulous stimulus package off, or at least do a little good there.
If we're in the same holding pattern this time next year, then I'll buy special pink paper to write hate mail on.
This is a book by Tom Spanbauer.
It is quite simply one of the best things I have ever read.
It's randomly come into my possession twice.
Once it jumped out at me on a library shelf.
Then I found a copy at a used bookstore, but gave it as a gift to someone else I thought would love it.
Then, this spring, a friend ' I were browsing a sidewalk book sale, ' there it was again...
I'll post more about it after I finish reading it again.
But if you're reading this now... Read this book.
